Self-portraits
The Autorretratos (Self-Portraits) project was created by the management of the Carta Blanca TV programme as an original way of introducing the host of this show, a different person every week, by referring to some of the things he/she likes most and least in life. These things alternate according to the formula “I adore…/ I detest…” as in the famous short by Jeunet and Caró. The offstage voice of each host guides us, with no given logic, through his/her personal philias and phobias. The aesthetic of Super 8 home movies helps activate the internal, personal projector of each host and remits us to another time and space, the personal memory of what he/she loves or hates so much. The host defines and is defined simultaneously, thanks to the magic union of image and sound. Different pieces for different celebrities from the cultural world and show business, pieces I have had the fortune and pleasure to make.
