Amodeo portrays better than anyone the strange world of the outsider, of those people who do not fit in their environment but with whom curiously most of us usually feel identified. He made his film debut with another promising Andalusian director: Alberto Rodríguez (The Suit, Siete vírgenes). Together they became known for their prize-winning short Bancos. They continued working together on the feature film The Pilgrim Factor, which questioned the talent of the Beatles themselves.
A short time later, they decided to take different paths (never losing sight of one another) in order to undertake their respective first works. Santi chose a story as daring as it was moving for his film Astronauts, which proved that he was a director with a very personal aesthetic and narrative universe. This cinematic feat won many international prizes including the Special Jury Prize at the Seminici, the Jury Prize at the Nantes Festival and the Nova Prize at the Montpellier Festival, as well as two nominations for Goya Awards (Best New Director and Best New Actress). Amodeo released his second film Cabeza de Perro (Doghead) just a short while ago. In it, he deals with another outsider, Samuel (Juan José Ballesta), a young man with serious psychological problems who escapes from his home and has the adventure of his life. And by the way, in addition to directing Santi has also formed his own musical group called Lavadora, together with Javi and Miguel de Maga and Jordi Gil, and it provides the soundtracks for his films.
