We assure you that opportunities like this are few and far between in a normal lifetime. Our proposal is that you shoot a film based on a script by Rafael Azcona himself. The father and maestro of so many scriptwriters and author of the stories that inspired such unforgettable films as El pisito, Not On Your Life and Belle Epoque has given us the best gift possible for Three Kings Day: an introduction that will both inspire you and help you direct your own personal cinematic version.
Azcona offers you his guidelines and it’s up to you to turn them into a film. If you have decided to accept this challenge, please read the following carefully:
1. You should use this introduction for inspiration and as a starting point to develop a continuation in a short that is no more than three and a half minutes (3’30”) long.
2. You can submit as many shorts as you want to this contest.
3. The short should include two special screens (entrance and exit). You can download them here below (Azconian Screens). They should be no larger than 5 Mb and should be accompanied by two posters with the following dimensions:
- a small poster in jpg format measuring 118 x 118 pixels with a maximum size of 9 kb;
- a larger poster, also in jpg format, measuring 174 x 174 pixels with a maximum size of 15 kb.
4. To take part in this contest, you must have a participant code number. If you have already registered to participate in Notodofilmfest.com, you can use the same code number. If you don’t have one yet, register now by clicking here.
5. Please send us your short using the form you’ll find within this section under the heading Send your Azconian Flick.
6. The period for submitting your shorts will end on Tuesday, 13 February, at 12 noon.
7. The Festival organisation will select 10 shorts as finalists. The names of these finalists will be published in this section once the submission period is over.
8. Rafael Azcona himself will be in charge of viewing these finalist shorts and choosing his three favourite works. The names of the winners will be revealed in the Award Ceremony for the 5th edition of Notodofilmfest.com.
9. Each winner will be awarded a set of 25 books from the collection of film scripts published by Ocho y Medio. This collection contains some of the scripts from the best recent Spanish and international films.
Furthermore, the first prize winner will receive €1,000 and an exclusive Notodohoteles Passport entitling him/her to three nights for two people in a hotel to be chosen from a selection of more than 100 establishments made by Notodohoteles.com.
